Yet another fantastic day- the secound half did drag on a bit I must say but it has been a wonderful day!

I set of from Estella and headed for the Irache wine fountain. I have been waiting years to see this and you know what the wine really wasn’t that bad. I have read on the forums how horrible the wine is so I had low expectations. I thought it was good wine and it went down a treat. Such a good novelty factor- the fountain of wine- soubds good hey!!! What a great start to the day!!

Approaching the famous fountain of wine

I didn’t even think to try the water! Haha! Straight to the good stuff!

So after I had a good 200ml or so of wine, I had turbo power and carried along my way. The path today was quite flat and dry- I can definately feel a change in the climate and it feels more like ‘wine Spain’ apposed to ‘green Spain’.

Leaving Irache and approaching Villamayor de Monjardín.

So I followed the path through the vineyards and wheat fields with Echiums, Poppies and Mulleins growing by the sides. I then reached the pueblo of Villamayor de Monjardín. It is important to note that the next 12k does not have a fountain or anywhere to stop off for a break. Infact its quite boring in parts, its just a long, long gravely path that goes on for ages. I managed to find a rock to sit on where I munched my tuna and sweetcorn salad I had prepared earlier.

The fountain here in Villamayor de Monjardín is your last water source for 12k so stock up!

So after the pueblo of Villamayor de Monjardín your basically on the same track for a good few hours, it took me about 2 and a half hours. I sat and had my salad half way on a rock. You then arrive in Los Arcos. My feet were just starting to get fed up too so good timing!

The dog friendly albergue of Casa alberdi. It cost me 40€ for a private room inc breakfast.

I then went to my accomodation and got showered and heated for the shops. I had a really hearty dinner of potatoes and cod with ice cream for pudding and a wine! I am well full now! 11€ well spent! I am shattered so night night folks, thanks for all the likes and comnents- they really do put a smile on my face 😁
